Johnny Scott Lands Top-10 Finish in Wild West Shootout Opener at Arizona Speedway

Stormy and Johnny Scott were back in action on Saturday evening at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) for the 14th annual Wild West Shootout. In a stout field of 46 Super Late Models, both Stormy and Johnny grabbed the 3rd and final transfer spots in their heat race locking them into the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-10, Johnny passed seven cars in the 30-lapper to place 8th while Stormy gained five spots to reel in a 12th place finish. (Mike Ruefer photo)

Returning on Sunday afternoon, Johnny followed up the third fastest lap in his time trial group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Brian Birkhofer. Stormy came in 5th in his heat transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Needing to place 4th or better, Stormy streaked to a 12-lap consolation victory. With $5,000 on the line, Johnny lost a left-rear tire on the 11th lap that forced him to retire early. Stormy dropped one spot in the 40-lap affair to place 19th.
