Stormy breaks while leading Dirt Late Model Dream prelim at Eldora

Both Stormy and Johnny Scott invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off four nights of racing with the 27th annual Dirt Late Model Dream.

With the 74-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Stormy followed up the fastest time in his group with a heat race victory. Johnny timed in 15th fastest in his group before picking up a heat race win. After pacing the field for the first 15 circuits, Stormy navigated his way through lapped-traffic as he kept a charging Brandon Overton at bay. Getting collected with the wall in the final five circuits, Stormy was forced to pull off with three laps remaining. Johnny lost six spots in his 25-lap preliminary feature to finish 16th.

With preliminary results on Wednesday setting the grid for heat races on Thursday, Stormy came one spot short of a transfer position with a fourth-place finish while Johnny finished 10th. Needing a third-place finish or better in their B-Main to make the $127,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream, Johnny posted a ninth-place finish while stormy picked up a 20-lap consolation victory. Rolling off 22nd, Stormy was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on lap 27.

For another round of preliminary features on Friday, Johnny edged his way into the show with a fourth-place finish in his heat, while Stormy placed seventh in his heat before coming in second in his B-Main behind Gregg Satterlee. With $10,000 on the line in the main event, Stormy pulled off on lap 17 while Johnny recorded a 21st-place outing.

On Saturday evening, both drivers fell short of transfer positions in their heat race, sending them into the B-Main for one final shot at the $126,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream. Both drivers were involved in a tangle on the fifth lap.
