Scott Brothers Racing attend DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia
Stormy Scott returned to the driver’s seat of his Rancho Milagro Racing No. 2s Late Model on Monday evening at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) to compete in the 52nd annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals.
In a field of 47 Late Models, Scott edged his way into the opening night feature with the fifth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. With $7,000 on the line, Stormy faded four positions to finish 23rd.
On Tuesday, Stormy dropped two positions in his heat to finish seventh, dropping him into a B-Main. Sending the top-two into the preliminary feature, Scott fell short with a seventh-place outing.
The following night saw Johnny replace Stormy in action as the 52-car field was divided into three groups for a trio of preliminary features. With his qualifying effort placing him on the fifth row for the $5,000-to-win prelim, Johnny inched forward three positions in the 20-lapper to register a seventh-place finish.
In a field of 56 cars on Thursday, Scott snuck into the feature via a runner-up finish in his consolation race after finishing fifth in his heat. Pinned on the 12th row, Johnny jumped up one spot to place 23rd.
With Mother Nature axing Friday’s event midway through the program, Johnny’s sixth-place finish in his heat race on Saturday relegated him into one of three consolation races for one last shot at the $20,000-to-win DIRTcar Nationals finale. Needing to place second or better, Scott came two spot short with a fourth-place outing.
